Cancer imposes heavy treatments - chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery - and supportive care that often extends over several months. In Marrakech, alternating between home, clinic and oncology centre is exhausting for the patient and for their loved ones alike. Home-based care eases this burden: supportive infusions, dressings, pain management, implanted-port care and human support. Our qualified nurses, employed by SOS Nursing and trained in oncology and palliative care, work in close coordination with the oncology team that directs the protocol. The aim: to allow the patient to remain in their own environment, surrounded by their family, while benefiting from rigorous professional monitoring and constant support for the family.

What the nurse does at every visit
Care of the implanted port or the catheter, complex dressings, pain management, monitoring of side effects (nausea, mucositis, fever, weakened immune defences) and emotional support for the patient and their loved ones.
Visit frequency and monitoring
The schedule follows the oncology protocol: spaced-out supportive infusions, regular catheter care, and daily visits during the palliative phase if needed.
Coordination with your treating physician
The nurse works under the oncologist's prescription: passing on vital signs, treatment tolerance and any warning sign (fever, bleeding), for a rapid adjustment of the protocol.
Equipment and home monitoring
Single-use sterile equipment, pumps and infusion devices, a thermometer and pulse oximeter, and a clinical sharps container. Every procedure follows strict aseptic rules to protect a patient who is often weakened.
The family's role between visits
We train carers to watch for fever, to handle the implanted port safely, to manage nausea and nutrition, and to recognise the signs that call for an immediate call.
AMO / CNSS coverage
Cancer is recognised as a long-term illness (ALD). Home nursing care (AMI acts, NGAP) is reimbursable by AMO or CNSS. Every intervention is documented with a compliant coded receipt and a signed care record.
Frequently asked questions
We administer subcutaneous chemotherapy and certain supportive infusions prescribed by the oncologist, in line with the protocols. Complex intravenous chemotherapy continues to be carried out in hospital.
Yes. Our nurses trained in palliative care provide pain management, comfort care and end-of-life support at home, with reinforced day-and-night presence if the family wishes.
Yes. Cancer is a long-term illness (ALD); nursing acts coded as AMI (NGAP) qualify for AMO/CNSS reimbursement. We provide a compliant coded receipt for each visit.
Our nurses insert the appropriate needle, check that the device is working properly, administer the prescribed treatments and flush the port according to the protocol, under strict aseptic conditions to prevent any infection.
A fever in a patient on chemotherapy is an emergency. The nurse assesses, contacts the oncologist and, if necessary, mobilises our private ambulance service for a transfer. The family is guided step by step by our coordination team, reachable around the clock.
As far as possible, yes. Continuity of carer is essential in oncology, both for the relationship of trust and for clinical follow-up. As our nurses are employed by SOS Nursing, we make it a priority.
