What to expect
Initial assessment
The nurse reviews your discharge papers, examines the wound, checks your vital signs and ensures all necessary supplies are available at home.
Wound care
Sterile dressing change. The nurse photographs the incision (with your consent) to document healing progress and catch any early signs of complications.
Pain management
Pain is assessed at every visit using the VAS scale. Prescribed analgesics are administered, along with guidance on positioning and gradual mobilisation.
Surgeon follow-up
A structured report is sent to your surgeon after each visit: wound status, vital signs, pain level and any warning signs detected.

Each visit includes vital-sign checks (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature), visual and palpatory inspection of the surgical wound, and dressing change per the surgeon's protocol. The nurse is trained to spot early signs of complications: peri-cicatricial redness (erythema), purulent drainage, suture dehiscence, fever above 38.5 °C, or escalating pain. Any anomaly triggers an immediate report to the referring surgeon. According to HAS (Haute Autorité de Santé) data, post-operative nursing follow-up at home reduces the rehospitalisation rate for wound complications by 30–40 %, while improving patient satisfaction and lowering the overall cost of care.

Yes. A state-registered nurse removes sutures, staples and drains at home once your surgeon has set the date in the prescription. The wound is cleaned and re-dressed in the same visit.
Prescribed nursing dressings are listed acts that AMO and CNSS can reimburse on presentation of the prescription and our care invoice. We give you an itemised receipt for your claim.
