Travel insurance: nursing care during your stay
On holiday or travelling in Marrakech? Your travel insurance, your assistance cover or your premium bank card may cover nursing care at home or at the hotel, often after prior agreement from the assistance provider.
Understanding your cover
Falling ill or getting injured far from home is a source of anxiety. The good news: most travel insurance and assistance contracts include cover for emergency medical and nursing care during a stay abroad. This frequently covers a nursing visit to your riad, hotel or rental, for an injection, a dressing, an infusion or monitoring.
The best-known insurers and assistance providers — such as Allianz Travel, AXA Assistance, Europ Assistance or Mondial Assistance — generally operate a 24/7 assistance desk you can reach at any time. The essential reflex is to call them before or during the intervention: the assistance provider opens a file, validates the cover and, in some cases, arranges direct billing. Otherwise, you advance the costs and are reimbursed on an itemised invoice on your return.
Many premium bank cards (Visa Premier, Gold Mastercard, World Elite, etc.) include travel insurance and medical assistance when the trip was paid for with the card. Guarantees and ceilings vary: check your card's terms before you leave, and keep the proof of payment for the trip.
Our role is to make your file impeccable for the assistance provider. After every visit, we hand over a properly itemised invoice, together with a signed care record: nature of the acts, date, time, identity of the state-certified nurse, and a coded receipt compliant with the NGAP nomenclature. This level of detail is exactly what a travel insurer requires to reimburse without dispute.
We respond quickly, everywhere in Marrakech and in the tourist areas — Medina, Guéliz, Hivernage, Palmeraie — generally in under 60 minutes, in French, English, Arabic, Spanish and German. As a private ambulance service, we can also arrange transport to a clinic if your condition requires it, and coordinate with your assistance provider.
Practical tip: before travelling, note the assistance number shown on your contract or on the back of your bank card, as well as your policy number. If needed, call the assistance provider, then contact us: we coordinate the intervention and prepare the expected supporting documents.

Insurance and home care: your questions
- Does my travel insurance cover a nursing visit at the hotel?
- Most contracts cover emergency medical and nursing care during a stay abroad. The reflex is to call your assistance provider (Allianz Travel, AXA Assistance, Europ Assistance, Mondial Assistance, etc.), who validates the cover. We then supply a compliant itemised invoice.
- Do I have to pay upfront?
- Often, yes: you pay for the intervention and are then reimbursed on the invoice. In some cases, after prior agreement, the assistance provider arranges direct billing. Keep the itemised invoice we hand you in a safe place.
- Is my premium bank card enough?
- Many cards (Visa Premier, Gold Mastercard, World Elite) include medical assistance when the trip was paid for with the card. Check the ceilings and conditions before you leave, and keep the proof of payment for the trip.
- Do you visit hotels and riads in the Medina?
- Yes. We cover the whole city — Medina, Guéliz, Hivernage, Palmeraie — generally in under 60 minutes, in several languages. Our nurses come to your accommodation at any hour.
- And in the event of a more serious emergency?
- We are a private ambulance service. If your condition requires transport, we arrange the transfer to a clinic and coordinate with your assistance provider, who may cover the medical transport according to your contract.
