The pulse oximeter measures the blood's oxygen saturation (SpO2) and heart rate in a few seconds, a valuable indicator for respiratory, convalescent or oxygen-therapy patients. But you still need a quality device and a correct reading: low-end models can display misleading values. We provide a medical-grade oximeter, explain the correct measurement technique (warm, still finger, no nail varnish) and the general interpretation of the values. As part of home nursing follow-up in Marrakech, the saturation readings are integrated into the file and shared with the treating physician, particularly to adjust an oxygen flow rate or detect a deterioration. We often pair it with the oxygen concentrator and the respiratory follow-up by our nurses.
