What does the healthcare assistant profession involve?
The healthcare assistant supports patients in the activities of daily living: hygiene, comfort, feeding, mobility and monitoring of the general condition. They work in close collaboration with the nurse, whom they assist day to day, and play a key role in the well-being and dignity of the people in their care.
Their duties vary by place of practice: in a hospital setting, they provide basic care and prepare patients; in home care, they become a reassuring point of reference for the person and their family. It is a profession of closeness, demanding on a human level but profoundly rewarding.
